Michelle Leshem is Miami's disco queen, La Madrina del Disco, with more than fifteen years behind the decks and a place on Miami New Times' list of the city's best local DJs. She played her first gig in 2009 after years in front and back of house in nightlife, and her sound has stayed true to the records she grew up dancing to: obscure disco, new wave synths, electro, indie dance and deep, classic and acid house.
She thrives on the synergy of paradoxes, balancing the luxury market and underground nightlife. Brand clients include Chanel, Prada, Miu Miu, Givenchy and Valentino; hospitality work spans the Ritz-Carlton, 1 Hotel, The Standard and Faena; retail and culture include Neiman Marcus, Saks, The Webster, the Miami Design District, ICA Miami and Art Basel. She has played III Points and Basement, DJed Soho House's Basel closing party with DJ Harvey and opened for Cut Copy, and ran music programming at Libertine, where she founded the all-female party Bitch Fit.
Now working between Miami and Los Angeles, with guest shows on dublab, she describes the ride as funky, groovy, sexy and synth-y, under the disco ball.
